Kansas — K.S.A. 21-6804 / 21-6805 Sentencing Grids

Most crimes use the Nondrug Grid. Drug charges use the Drug Grid instead.

In Kansas, Level 1 is the most serious and the highest number is the least serious.

This is based on the TYPES of prior convictions you have — not points. Most people won't know this off the top of their head — that's normal.

Sentencing Grid

Each box shows aggravated/standard/mitigated sentence in months. Hatched boxes are border boxes (presumed prison, optional nonprison).

Grids checked on 25 October 2026 against K.S.A. 21-6804 and 21-6805 (Kansas Revisor of Statutes, as amended through 2024): all 135 grid boxes match. Each offense in the shortcut list was checked against the penalty clause of its statute. Criminal history categories follow K.S.A. 21-6809; the statute’s text for category F says “one” nonperson felony, but the official grid labels F as two nonperson felonies, and this calculator follows the grid. Not included: off-grid crimes, out-of-state convictions, and special conversion rules such as three person misdemeanors counting as one person felony (K.S.A. 21-6811(a)).
